Current Status of Forage Crops Cultivation and Strategies for the Future in Turkey: A Review

Forage crops cultivation area in Turkey is 2.312 million ha 2020. The rate of forage the total agricultural 6.1%, and its field land 12.3%. Lucerne, silage corn, oat, vetch, sainfoin are main Turkey. amount produced 16.8 tons hay 48.8 thousand seeds. crop areas have increased by 206% since beginning 2000s due to government subsidies. However, shortage quality roughage still a big problem for animal husbandry country. For this reason, new strategies should be developed increase considering global warming, drought, climate change. In order meet need roughage, it necessary expand as winter catch second crops. addition, some fallow fields utilized growing drought-resistant species. abandoned different problems used suitable
